Yu Shuhong, male, born in August 1967 in Lujiang, Anhui Province, is a materials scientist and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He also serves as Executive Director of the Nanomaterials and Chemistry Division, Hefei National Research Center for Microscale Physical Sciences, Dean of the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Hefei University of Technology, and Deputy Director of the Education Committee of the 16th Central Committee of the China Zhi Gong Party.
Yu Shuhong received his Bachelor’s degree in Inorganic Chemistry from Hefei University of Technology in 1988, his Master’s degree from Shanghai Research Institute of Chemical Industry in 1991, and his Doctoral degree in Inorganic Chemistry from the Department of Chemistry, University of Science and Technology of China in 1998. In 2002, he was selected into the Overseas Outstanding Talents Recruitment Program of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He was granted the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars in 2003 and acted as the Chief Scientist of the National Major Scientific Research Program in 2010. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry in 2013 and an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences on November 22, 2019.
His research interests include: bionic high-performance nanocomposite structural materials, self-assembly and their applications; controlled crystallization of polymers and biomineralization simulation; template-induced synthesis and assembly technology of multifunctional nanomaterials; preparation, properties and assembly functions of novel inorganic-organic hybrid materials; synthesis of new carbon materials for energy and environmental applications and energy storage; regulation of optical, electrical and magnetic properties of nanomaterials and nanocatalytic effects.
